Welcome to Sparks Family Chiropractic located in Lancaster OH. Chiropractic is one of the most amazing healthcare professions, but very few people understand what it's all about. This article is here to help you gain a basic understanding of how our Lancaster OH chiropractors can help you and your family.

WELCOME TO Sparks Family Chiropractic

Chiropractic care is the practice of using spinal alignment to alleviate a wide variety of physical ailments, including muscle strain, neck pain, chronic back pain, and more. This is accomplished by adjusting the position of the spinal column to its proper shape, providing a non-invasive solution for pain relief.

Many people dismiss chiropractic as being something only for back pain, but chiropractic treatment can be used to treat a wide variety of physical issues, such as migraines and headaches, chronic pain, carpal tunnel, pain due to injury or muscle strain, and much more.

The word “Chiropractic” is derived from the Greek words “cheir” (hand) and “praktos” (done) combined to mean “done by hand.” It was chosen by the developer of chiropractic care, Daniel David Palmer. In 1895, D.D. Palmer performed a chiropractic adjustment on a partially deaf janitor, Harvey Lillard, who later reported that his hearing had improved due to the change.

UNDERSTANDING CHIROPRACTIC

D.D. Palmer opened the first chiropractic school in 1897, and in the century since, chiropractic professionals have used spinal adjustments to help people prevent and cope with back pain, carpal tunnel, muscle strain, headaches and migraines, and a variety of other physical ailments. Millions of people benefit from the work of Dr. Palmer today.

Chiropractic doctors go through a minimum of four years of schooling at a chiropractic college, generally preceded by an undergraduate degree in the basic sciences or several years of experience in a prior relevant health care field.

Students of chiropractic care must spend a minimum of at least 4,200 hours with their teacher, and a minimum of 1,000 hours of fully supervised clinical training with an instructor as they learn the appropriate diagnosis and treatment techniques to help heal your body and restore it to its natural, fully functioning state.

Frequently Asked Questions About
Chiropractors in Lancaster

1. How does chiropractic care help?

In most cases, the source of your neck, back pain or headaches is a spinal misalignment, a vertebra that is out of its normal alignment. When we carefully examine you and correct the misalignment, the body responds by healing and resolving the pain.

2. I didn’t hear a sound. Does that mean the Adjustment didn’t work?

No!! It doesn't have to make a noise at all. The noise is just an little air forced from the joint as it moves. Many times, the adjustment sets the vertebra in motion and you will feel it 'move' within a few hours after the adjustment. This is also normal.

3. Does insurance cover chiropractic visits?

Most insurance do cover and we are providers for almost all of them.

4. How safe is Chiropractic?

Very. We are proud to report that we are safest of all the healthcare disciplines. We use very gentle techniques, perform all the necessary tests to determine exactly what the patient needs.

5. Is chiropractic care safe while I’m pregnant?

Yes! Much safer than taking even the safest of OTC pain meds, none of which have been properly tested on pregnant women. If you have a baby-on-board, the last thing you want to do is subject your body and your baby's to unnecessary chemicals.

6. Can I become addicted to Chiropractic Adjustments?

No. There is nothing about a Chiropractic Adjustment that is addictive. There is no evidence that backs up…'once you go, you always have to'. But, that you will begin to feel so good that you may want to continue to feel good! So, the truth is, once you go, you always get to!

7. Is Chiropractic safe for children?

Yes. In fact, because children have so much vitality and healing potential, the earlier they get their spine checked and corrected, the less problems they may have in the future.

8. How much schooling does a Chiropractor have?

Chiropractors are required to complete the equivalent of a 4 year Bachelor's degree (usually in Science) and go on to complete the Doctor of Chiropractic program, which is a 5 year program.

9. Can I see a Chiropractor if I’ve had back surgery?

Generally yes. In all cases, you will need to be carefully evaluated to see if your case has any specific contraindications that would prevent you from being successfully treated with Chiropractic care.

10. How Long Will it Take to Work?

Some people can get relief after their very first adjustment. Most people will get some relief within their first 2 weeks of beginning Chiropractic care.
